12. Spirit Feeling

This twelfth sector of the Wheel is Spirit Feeling. In the language of the Wheel Spirit means animating vital principal; meaning; ideas; representations; quality; space-time continuum; intelligent or sentient part of a being; essential principal; significance; incorporeal; intellect; concept; thought; noetic; event; information; pattern; gestalt; geist; abstract; ideational; ideal; neo-cortex, human brain; knowledge. Spirit is what is typically understood in an inexact sense as mind. Feeling means love; emotions; affects; drives; fun; intensity; enthusiasm; exhilaration; moods; imagination; force; power; passion; sentiment; strength; laughter; joy; humor; playfulness; right brain; metabolism; impulses; and dreams.

In the body this part of the Wheel corresponds to the Feet and Spleen. In our personal life it pertains to Regeneration and Healing, and in civilization to Medicine. In the ancient wisdom traditions of the West, and in the Zodiac, it is symbolized by Pisces, the Fishes.

In grammarical categories it pertains to the Conjunction: And, Or. This category of grammar allows you to grasp a connection. It is the category which unites or ties words with the items they identify or symbolize, or it can unite two or more words into a larger idea. It is in essence "inclusion or exclusion."

The basic meaning of conjunction - 1 - pertains to synthesis, to unification and healing. This twelfth sector of the Wheel is the place of the first point of the Enneagram. The archetypal symbol or myth for the drive inherent to this sector of the Wheel is Jupiter, to synthesize and to heal. It is the holistic capacity to fit everything together, to heal by reconciliation. It is the "both-and" counterpoint to "either-or" rational analysis. The complementary impulse is the sixth sector of the Wheel, Spirit Sensing, to discern and judge.

In life this is the age span of from 77 to 84 years. This time of life is primarily concerned with "Becoming a bridge to the beyond, an ancestor." In the final stage of life a person is transformed into a vessel of light. All states of consciousness are integrated into Awareness, the brains are fully activated and in balance, and the Higher Self is continuously realized. A person who attains this final stage of full wisdom can now help others through living example, by their very presence and being. The divide between life and death is penetrated, preparation for the death of the body and continued journey of the soul is complete. The person then serves as an inspiration and bridge to the next world.

In history the Piscean Age which emphasized Spirit Feeling was the period from 198 BC to 1962 AD (see explanation of the New Age). This was the Age of the Empire where the Messengers of God became the center of historical evolution. Quite a few remnants of this historical age can still be seen in the World Religion traditions of Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. In this last Age the threshold of the life after death was penetrated by Saints and Sages, setting an example in this world for all to follow. The leadership of the Saint was all important and so in many Christian cultures people started using two names, adding a Christian name to the family name, meaning the name of a Saint for that person to follow. This was the Age of great religious leaders, of Saints, Gurus and Masters with spiritual teachings and loyal followers. Many people don't know it yet, but this Age is over. A New Age has begun, the Age of Aquarius where Body Thinking is emphasized instead of Spirit Feeling.

In geography this sector of the Wheel corresponds to the one twelfth of the Earth from 10 to 40 degrees longitude East. This includes the greatest land mass from Northern Europe over Central and Eastern Europe, Israel and central Africa. The common faith is the starting point. The ideal is a society in service (Spirit Sensing) to God and others, from Christianity to Socialism, where all work and economy is tied to ideals.
